Today we energized the new ion pump mounted on beam tube port X2-8. This pump is isolated from the beam tube for now. A permanent, dedicated mounting setup and location for the controller in the X-end building is still being sorted but for now (to test functionality) we have it at a temporary site in the mechanical room of the X-end station. -> The indicated current/pressure on the controller agrees within 50% of that indicated by the independent pressure gauge which is mounted on the pump port hardware. We will make an attempt to measure any HV cable leakage current (cable is ~1,000 feet long!) and perform a few tests to convince ourselves that the pump is actually pumping etc... as opportunities arise.
