DQ Shift Thurs 24 - Sun 27 November
Paul Altin
Total observing time 19.7 hours (duty cycle 20%). Average inspiral range 65 - 70 Mpc.
Most non-observing time spent doing PEM injections and trying to lock (problems with wind and seismic activity on Thursday/Friday, Beckhoff issue on Saturday).
Line of glitches at 1080 Hz continues. Hveto results are consistent with previous suggestions that these are related to the IMC, Friday's round 6 winner IMC-PZT_PIT vetoed almost all of them. Omegascans show lots of whistles in IMC-PZT channels. A trigger on Friday indicates these might be causing problems for the burst search.
Range tends to drop at the beginning of a lock, and more slowly throughout. Nutsinee experimented with changing SRM Pitch to counteract this, with some success.
There is also a line of glitches around 260 Hz, which was stronger Thursday - Saturday and weaker again on Sunday. The line in the spectrograms at this frequency seemed to be correlated with the range and with the adjustments to SRM P on Saturday.
There have been infrequent (every few hours), loud (SNR ~ 100) glitches at 38 Hz throughout the shift.
Software saturations page reported very large numbers (10,000s) of saturations in channel H1:OAF-DARM_AUDIO on Thursday and Friday.
