- Some struggles using green X WFS again this morning. Stefan turned on all the HOLD_OUTPUTS of the green X WFS so that they can't engage during acquisition. Sheila said that last night when the opened DOF 2 then DOF 1 only worked if they moved TMS by hand so that it was close to correct. (We haven't tried that yet today, just leaving all X WFS off, and haven't done an initial alignment).
- Ran A2L at some point. Started several times, lost lock for unrelated reasons the first several times. Once it ran all the way through. Definitely improved the DARM noise.
- Engaged test mass optical levers, in an effort to suppress the 0.5 Hz dP/dTheta instability. Turned off again though, since this will alter the plant for the CSOFT loops. We're going to try to design CSOFT loops that work for both engagement and power-up with the oplevs off. If that doesn't work, then we'll try to design loops with the oplevs on.
- See that SRC ASC error point zeros are not a good setpoint when we increase power.
- See that when we increase power, the OMC SUS saturates. It seems likely that the alignment of either BS or SRC is changing as we power up, and the OMC ASC is making the OMC follow. Current plan is to check the setpoints of MICH and SRC ASC and prevent them from drifting away, so that the OMC doesn't have to move. Alternatively, if that doesn't work, we could also move SR3 a little bit to move the SRC axis.
- INCREASE_POWER guardian state now goes up to 15W, since we seem to be pretty stable there. I changed the INCREASE_POWER state to go to 5W, then increase once the SOFT loops have converged (we used to go straight to 10W then start stepping up). We still have to by-hand increase the power beyond that value though.
- Acquiring DRMI: PRM has stopband. Works better to turn it off for acquire, then back on once locked. Also, PRCL gain should be 5, not 8. 8 is too high. SRCL loop sees the gain peaking from this too-high PRCL gain. Ended up moving this gain change to the REFLAIR input matrix element for PRCL, so that the PRCL1 gain value stays at 8. This way we aren't hurting (lowering) the PRCL gain when we've transitioned to 3F.
- INCREASE_POWER state will also now turn off the inputs to SRC1 and SRC2 ASC loops, so we don't forget to do so before powering up. (I have forgotten more than once today...)
- Going to try zeroing the Length row of the OMC ASC output matrix, so that we don't saturate the OMC suspension. Didn't help. The actual pitch signal is the bigger problem, not this feedforward length path.
- MICH, PRCL, SRCL loops all fine at 15W injected. Screenshot attached, and the DTT files saved in the ISC loop measurement folder. Measuring again after mostly thermalized; gains went down a teeny bit, but not at all enough to be concerned about.
- Tried putting in a -2000 count offset in MICH_Pit ASC loop. This makes POP90 go up a very small amount, but REFL_DC goes down. Other buildups don't see this at all. OMC Suspension, however, is much farther from saturating, which is good.
We have had several fast locklosses today while at high-ish power. Not at all sure yet what causes this, although it's the one thing that is keeping us from maintaining long locks at 15W injected power.
