TITLE: 12/12 Owl Shift: 08:00-16:00 UTC (00:00-08:00 PST), all times posted in UTC
STATE of H1: Observing at 106Mpc
INCOMING OPERATOR: Ed
SHIFT SUMMARY:
In the post PSL Chiller crash, H1 is suffering from an ailment which is giving subtle noise issues in the 15-50Hz range (but Jeff K mentions this is probably due to microseism.).
GC network appears to be down (this will affect notifications for GRBs, superevents, incoming EQs, etc.), so no wifi, phones, teamspeak, and so on and so on.
Jeff is taking H1 over at 16:00utc for some short Cal measurements approved by Keita.
LOG:
- 12:35 LOCKLOSS [edit: due to EQ]: Notes for locking logged in the new Ops "acquisition survey". 2 Acquisitions required with an Initial Alignment.
- While working on locking, notice a quick & sharp spike on eq Band after the fact. We didn't get an earthquake warning. On USGS see a 4.4 EQ in northern Mexico at 12:25. Also see that L1 had a big drop in range, but road through something the same time we went own. I'm suspicious (almost wondering if this down time should be marked for EARTHQUAKE.)
- Mentioned this to Richard and our network issue might be the reason we didn't get the Incoming EQ alert.
- 13:17 DRMI didn't lock for 1st acquisition, so running ALIGNMENT!
- Since the Survey stops at DRMI, making notes for Alignment here.
- ALS XARM node froze at ENABLE WFS. Took Init Align. Ended up in same state. Actually, it looks like earlier it was stuck on a 1:0 mode (but hard to see with video). So, I took the ALSXARM node to UNLOCKED, tweaked ETMx & tmsx, and then let it take over.
- 14:34 OBSERVING
- 14:40 GC networks returned (Richard M)
Refer to alog 53864 regarding GC network issues overnight. The edge network ports do not service CDS (CDS maintains a separate switch and connection to the LHO network switching core), and that network connection nor the upstream connection to our ISP went down. Coincidental, but not causal.
