TITLE: 01/10 Owl Shift: 08:00-16:00 UTC (00:00-08:00 PST), all times posted in UTC
STATE of H1: Observing at 56Mpc
INCOMING OPERATOR: TJ
SHIFT SUMMARY:
H1 has been locked 29+hrs & we just rode through an "unannounced" EQ from Mexico.
Tumbleweed status:
- Y-arm has two piles on Y2 (one just past MY and another a little beyond it).
- X-arm is almost clear to the 1km mark!
LOG:
- 10:48:04 H1 dropped from OBSERVING due to the Squeezer (specifically, the SQZ_SHG noted: "PZT voltage limits exceeded"). SQZ_MANAGER returned to NOMINAL on its own at 10:49:21.
- 10:49:42 Back to OBSERVING
- 12:26 "GRB Long" alert received, confirmed, and consulted with other operators on TeamSpeak. Ignoring this one since it is too long.
- 15:45 X-Arm Tumbleweedin' begins (Tyler, Scott)
- 15:43 Noticed L1 & H1 range dropping fast, & then I freaked out as I looked up at the Seismic BLRMS plot to see a big (1um/s) EQ spike! (no Verbal Alert was given...looks like a quick 5.5 from Mexico!)
- Immediately transitioned SEI_CONF to EARTHQUAKE at 15:43 without checking anything, since it was fast. (while this was transitioning, I noticed that tidal and asc signals had already been big for about ~4-6min).
- After bringing up STS signals, it looks like the EQ already passed (so, I probably didn't need to transition to EARTHQUAKE).
- Looking at the Log for the new ENV_STAT node and I see that it had the following note at 5:40:
- 2020-01-10_15:40:04.394057Z ENV_STAT [CALM.run] Peakmon high, no seismon alert, jumping to EARTHQUAKE
- 16:06 returns to CALM :)
- Whew! (L1 ended up going down...I wonder if they received an alert for this one?)
- I'm going to leave it to TJ to transition us back to WINDY.
