HAM4 HWS picomotor install HWSX

Follow up to alog 60582. WP 10035.

Summary: HWSX M2 installed, HWSX M1 removed from HAM4 but pedestal issue to solve.

Cables: Cable bracket to component D1101515-v3-C1Q01 cable numbers didn't match lengths in the cabling document so I followed the lengths assigned and have the same as LLO:

Cable 1 36" HWSY M1
Cable 2 85" HWSY M2
Cable 3 95" HWSX M2
Cable 4  (nearest to pin1) 72" HWSX M1

Jim will install the flange to cable bracket cable D1000225-v7-C1Q01.

Picomotors: Three pairs of the picomotor cables were all <110mm which is not long enough for the 4" mirror mounts. We have two picomotor pairs (8301-UHV--00-C20Q002 and 8301-UHV--00-C21Q002) left over from the SQZ HAM7 optics with cables just long enough to reach so will use these for now for HWSX M2 and HWSY M1.  HWSY M2 is 2" so short cables will be fine and there was one pair with long cables which we used for HWSX M1.

HWSX Steer M2: We set up the laser and two iris, see photo. Following instructions in T2100117, marked position of HWSX M2 pedestal with clamps and removed assembly from HAM4. We removed optic and added picomotors (this is a tight fit but the cables don't seems to be under much tension- see photos here and here). Replaced optic, used the puffer to blow some dust off but it still isn't the cleanest (photo). Placed back into HAM4 and realigned to both irises. Photos of position here and here

HWSX Steer M1:  Marked the position of the pedestal and removed from HAM4. Optic is under a cloth on the clean room table. TJ and I assembled new mount and pedestal Monday (alog 60582) however we didn't realize thew pedestal was incorrect, D1101843 rather than D1201558-v4. See photo. The pedestal should be a new height -0.35" (p12 of T1900411) but we have the one for LLO rather than LHO. Aidan and Marie are working on what we do next.

Apologies for shipping the wrong part. Please install the new Siskiyou mount on the old pedestal, that would keep the height difference between the beam and the mirror center to 0.35".

TJ, Camilla. Thursday 11th November AM.

HWSX Steer M1: Installed the new 4" mount with the old pedestal. I struggled to get the optics to sit tightly in the mount and chipped the barrel in the process. We added the washers to hold the optic on the outside to be more secure. See photo here. We blew the optic off wth the N2 top gun. See here that the beam spot is a little low, this is expected with the old pedestal. Photos of M1 in position here and from above here

HWSX Steer M2: TJ moved the L-bracket to the leftmost hole to relieve some strain on the pico cable. See here. Then re-centered beam.

Removed irises and started HWXY.
