After some reminders and instructions from Keita on what we needed to check, and consultations with Richard and Bubba regarding fall protection, and consultations with Travis and Gerardo on lexan viewport protection, Corey and I were able to confirm that the reflection from the PRM is indeed nicely hitting the high power beam dump that is on top of HAM2.
This was work permit 10260. Alog 17803 from initial installation in 2015 has some photos of the dump and its enclosure.
Corey climbed up on top of HAM2 and clipped in his fall protection. We locked the IMC at 2W, and then (after having enabled the rotation stage) lowered the power to ~250 mW injected into the vacuum. This gave a reading of ~200 mW on IM4 trans. Corey then removed the enclosure around the high power beam dump, placed a piece of lexan over the hole in the baseplate of the enclosure (to protect the viewport), and immediately was able to find that the misaligned PRM was putting the beam nicely on the center of the steering mirror and the high power beam dump. Corey will attach a photo of where the beam hits the dump.
That done, I took the IMC to 'offline' so that we no longer had beam there, and Corey took a moment to inspect the viewport. He saw some small specs of dust. He tried to get a photo, although it was difficult to capture on a phone camera.
For now, we have not taken any action on the dust, we'd like to consult with Team Vac to see what if anything we should do.
Corey removed the temporary lexan cover, secured the enclosure box and then climbed on down.
Since the PRM reflected beam is nicely on the high power beam dump, we should be able to increase the PSL power via the rotation stage. I have therefore left the rotation stage enabled.
