The Violin mode damping is tested for second harmonics for all but ITMY. The lscparams is updated and the changes are loaded into the Violin damping guardian.

For ITMY modes 11 through 18, the settings in the guardian is undamped, that is the gain is 0 for all these modes. We should check these gain values but they seem to be undamped even last year. Other than this all modes are being damped overnight. Other small change was tested successfully: ETMX mode 2 was increased from -0.2 to 20. The latter was the previous max gain value in the Voilin mode damping guardian. Lastly, ITMY mode 6 is the highest of all the violin modes.

The ITMY mode 6 seems to be ringing up.

  • Turning off ITMY mode 6 damping at 10:50 pm PT, the spectra indicated the mode was still ringing up slowly. Requested down so the IFO doesn't try to relock at night if there is a lockloss.
  • Turned on damping on mode 6 again but with a gain of -0.45 and increased ITMY mode 5 gain to 0.06. The setting does not work. The mode 6 was slightly more rung up. Turning off damping. Spectra attached.
  • I think as Keita suggested because the mode 6 frequency is at the edge of the filter can it be causing the damping settings to be very sensitivity to phase and dependent on spot positions?
  • My notes from Monday suggest that we didn't try negative gain and no phase filters on. One option would be to try this filter setting to see if we are better off?

yes mode 6 was indeed going up (and mode 5 coming down?), see high resolution spectra attached (focussing on 7.30 pm last night when you switched off itmy mode 6 damping).
