- IFO stayed locked overnight. Excellent!
- Powered up to 10 W, easy. Powered up to 25 W, also pretty easy.
- ITMY mode 6 seems to not have liked damping with existing settings when powering up, so its gain has been set to zero in guardian. Currently the mode isn't too high, so we'll leave its auto-damping off, and we can in parallel be working on finding damping settings by hand.
- Jumped to Adjust_Power, and started stepping up in power. We had been sitting at 25W, which in general seemed stable. Buildups were going down as we thermalized, but we had skippped Move_spots. I think this should be okay, and we'll find our best-possible spots once we're at higher power. If we fail again though, we may want to find some better spots for use here at ~25 W, and then can tune them further when we get to higher powers.
- There is work ongoing near HAM7, and we can see increased ground motion in the 3-10 Hz and 10-30 Hz ITMY seismic BLRMS. We had one big ASC glitch at a time when the ground motion was higher, but we survived that. We lost lock during the next time of increased ground motion. Camilla has the lockloss tool chugging along so that we can look at it, but I suspect that we may find that we need to look at deferring either the HAM7 work or the powerup work. We'll try at least one more time though.
- Running initial alignment, since there's no way that we were going to catch lock with what we had. Recall that last night (alog 62315) we reset the green setpoints after our alignment struggels yesterday.
- Also recall, that now that we've reset our green cameras, we should always be using the state Initial_Alignment in the ALS_[x,y]ARM guardians for initial alignment. Once that is complete, we use GREEN_WFS_OFFLOADED, and then continue with initial alignment as we had been.
- It seems like having loaded the ALS arm guardians did indeed take in Sheila's gain change for ALS Y DOF1 Yaw, since the gain was set correctly this time and we didn't see any oscillations.
- Relocking seems to be going well through PREP_ASC_FOR_FULL_IFO. ENGAGE_ASC has not been working. Georgia is again stepping alignments to improve buildups.
- This is quite disappointing, since the IFO just had an alignment. I'm not really sure what's up, but we should not be needing to do these major steps so often.
- We note that in DRMI ASC the other day we updated the POP_A QPD offsets. Perhaps once ADS comes on this time, we should reset those such that the PRM comes to the good place that the full IFO likes? Georgia has a screenshot of POP A when we're at 2W full ASC on.
- Next lock, SRC error signals were all pretty close to zero at PREP_ASC, so we engaged them (both SRC1 and SRC2). Then stepping CHARD while following along a bit with PRM and other optics, but letting SRC follow with the loops.
- Eventually were able to engage all ASC, go up to 10W, then jump to Adjust_Power and go up in steps of 5W to 25W. Now we're stepping the A2L offsets of the ETMs in the same direction as we'd go in the old Move_spots state (which we skipped).
- PRG improving! Yay! We got up to PRG of 55.6. We're also getting some glitches, some of which cause an alignment jiggle such that the PRG goes up to 56.0, but we don't know (haven't take the time to find) the spots that put us there consistently.
- I turned on the dither lines for ITMX, and tuned its A2L gains to match the rest of the current IFO. Attached screenshot is where we're at, at 25W.
- Travis turned off the mega cleanroom for us for ~15mins, and we can indeed see that some of the acoustic peaks are smaller than they had been. They're not all the way gone, so it's not the whole story, but it's certainly part of the story.
- Georgia turned it back on a few mins later, but while it was off, we were about +5 Mpc.
- By-hand ran through rest of ASC changes that would have happened in POWER_25W.
- Ran reduce RF9 and RF45 MHz steps.
-
Back to adjust power, stepping up in power. Stopping at 50W input to the IMC (40W to the PRM) to check some low noise settings, see if we can look at our lower freq noises.
- Don't yet seem to have any PI issues. But we have run out of pre-set RPC values. So, this seems like a fine (and record high!) input power to sit at for a while.
- Going through lownoise_asc by-hand, although skipping the lowering of ADS clockgains at first. Completed lownoise ASC, did not do any ADS things, although leaving them in the guardian.
- Letting guardian go through slownoise_coil_drivers.
- Did the ADS lowering parts from lownoise ASC, so now equivalently have done all of lownoise ASC.
- Could not do Transition_from_etmx, because the ITMX ESD seems to be not on. Georgia tiptoeing to go turn it on.
- We were able to transition to lownoise ESD, but DHARD started ringing up, and we weren't able to save the lock :(
- Sometime earlier in the day we were locked, and Tyler did a small amount of craning in the far West Bay, and we didn't see it at all on the IFO. Another thing that's useful to know that can be done, as long as things are coordinated so we're not doing it at a delicate time on the IFO.
