CO2 HWS calibration measurements tonight.

TJ, Camilla.

In an effort to calibrate how much the CO2's effect the ITM curvature we are running CO2 calibration measurements from midnight tonight. TJ has written a script request CO2X and CO2Y to 2.67W and 2.5W central heating for 2 hours at midnight. We'll then spend 2 hours cooling down before turning both onto 1.5W and 1.67W central heating*. This will be done with the IFO unlocked in DOWN.

These numbers are to be close to 2W injected into the IFO for all tests. We still need to look at how the CO2 power calibration relates to the masks as seen in the table below the requested power isn't the same as the injected power as depends on which mask is in the path.

POWER_REQUEST (Watts) LSRPWR_MTR after masks (Watts) POWER_REQUEST we'll request tonight with aim to get 2W on LSRPWR_MTR
CO2Y Central 0.8 2.5
CO2Y Annular  2 2.4 1.67
CO2X Central 2 1.5 2.67
CO2X Annular  2 2.6 1.5

* Will only test central CO2 as we have an issue changing guardian states from a script.

Surprisingly it seems that 2 hours of 2W central CO2 heating was not long enough to thermalize the ITMs as the spherical power was still changing. Plot here.

  • CO2X central 1.92W in changes ITMX 60mD
  • CO2Y central 1.94W in changes ITMY 100mD
Change in spherical power from:
CO2 Central @2W
50W IFO lockloss (no CO2)  see alog 62782
ITMX
60mD
100mD
ITMY
100mD
85mD

I've also attached plots of the HWS images with the CO2 central heating on ITMX CO2 central could be moved a little up and left to be more on top of the current IFO beam position.
