TCS HWS EY path adjustment- removed dogleg - HWS-M1B and M1C

TJ Shaffer, Camilla Compton

  1. Photo of ETMY reflected HWS beam with ITMY aligned (getting a LOT of ITM beam which isn't unusal)
  2. Photo of ETMY reflected HWS beam with ITMY misaligned
  3. Photo of ISCTEY outgoing beam before changes. We set up a temporary retro-reflector after the ALS iris and aligned back to the camera with the cameras frequency set to 57Hz (nominal now is 1Hz) wiki
  4. We removed HWS-M1B and M1C (drawing) to remove the dog leg that has caused us some clipping. Before and after photos. The outgoing beam still looks like it's clipping somewhere but I think we've improved it. More work still needs to be done on alignment and we felt constrained on the angle we could send the beam though ALS-M11 (the ALS/HWS BS). With the beam at a 45deg angle to the BS the beam was fully reflected. We had to have a steeper angle to get any transmitted beam - maybe this is a property from sending a polarized beam through a polarizing BS?
  5. Photo of ISCTEY outgoing beam after dog leg removed.
  6. Photo of ETMY reflected HWS beam after dog leg removed with ITMY aligned (camera back to 1Hz). Hartmann plate left off.
