I forgot to write more detail about the fiber swap I did inside the MSR Beckhoff communications chassis tuesday and why I did this. LHO CDS has a standard concerning the fiber connection to the single mode patch panels running between the MSR and the outbuildings. For each fiber pair, in the MSR the left fiber is the transmit (going from MSR to outbuilding) and the right is the receive (outbuilding to MSR). At the outbuildings this is of course reversed, the left connector of the pair is the receive from the MSR, the right is transmit to the MSR. Ethernet switches use LC/LC SFPs, which has standardized on the left is the transmit. So in the MSR left on the SFP goes to left on the patch panel. I modified the Beckhoff chassis to this standard, which required switching the internal SC single mode connectors on both the Y-arm and X-arm fiber units.
