Script to announce live LLO Observing status, or general channel change
Control room users have asked more than once to have some type of alert for when LLO goes into or out of Observing. I've made this, heavily based on our read only LLO medm command. This will create an epics connection to LLO after you input your ligo.org password and then it uses our text to speech program (picotts) to announce any changes to the L1:GRD-IFO_STATE (our intention bit). I put it in userscripts so:
To run it enter: llo_status_live into your terminal and then enter your password.
This uses a more general script that alerts on any channel changes for a given channel. Great if you're waiting around for something to finish up. It lives in (userapps)/cds/common/scripts/alert_channel_change.py
