SHIFT SUMMARY:

For today...we only observed for 15min--rest of the day was for commissioning (1445 until past 0000utc when H1 gets back to NLN); the 42hr lock ended right after Commissioning started.  (apologies for handing you an unlocked H1, RyanS....but did get to do some locking for the first time in weeks (due to long H1 locks)!).
LOG:

• 1445 6-hr Commissioning begins (later upgraded 8.5hrs)
• 1455 MY CEBEX trip (richard)
• 1506 Lockloss in latter half of 15-min DARM Offset Script for the set-up of OM2 heating.
• 1515-1531 Optics lab clean/checks (nellie)
• 1533 Robert in LVEA for injection set-up.
• 1603 OM2 heating started with 4.6 (per Jennie's instructions and Sheila phoning in that this is something we can try while locking.)
• 1807-1840 MX trip to check on pumps (janos)
• ~1815 C17 cargo plane flew over LHO (Randy heard it outside, Camilla & others felt it in the offices, H1 was at LOW NOISE COIL DRIVERS).  TJ knew about it on an app he has and here's the LINK of the plane.
• Earthquake & Locking Note:  Finally back to NLN at 1823utc.  But for this 2nd locking attempt, we paused at MAX POWER due to an earthquake in Afghanistan---it was originally noted by USGS at M5.6, and we did not worry about it since it was in the green, but it was later upgraded to M6.3 which forced H1 to transition to EQ Mode....so we held at MAX POWER (which is basically, the ASC High Gain state) until the earth calmed down and we went back to "Calm mode".

  • For locking, the green arms looked ugly so opted for another alignment.
• 2253-2310 Robert (to unpack his stuff) & Betsy went out to the LVEA.
• 2301  Ran another alignment since Verbal said Green X & Y arms needed to be found by hand!
  • As I was leaving, Ryan noticed that the quickly-locked DRMI then went bad to a bad alignment when the ASC came on....handing this off to RyanS.  :(
