STATE of H1: Observing at 110Mpc
INCOMING OPERATOR: Ed
SHIFT SUMMARY:
Started out with some weather on the drive in! And the weather covered over the first half of the shift, but have ended with about 5hrs of Observing.
Did have an ADC Error which cleared after a Diag Reset.
LOG:
Although the winds have died and H1 is happily in Observing, there is still storm activity all around us with lightning and thunder every dozen or so seconds, but H1 is humming along fine with this activity....as long as the winds continue their downward trend!
Winds are down in the 20mph range. Ran an Initial Alignment & made it back to Observing in 2-attempts. Here are notes:
With winds now beginning to touch 40mph, H1 finally loses lock (with its range degrading all the way down to 90Mpc before dropping).
Might sit it out for a little bit, but we'll see. Observatory mode is WINDY.

CURRENT ENVIRONMENT:
SEI_CONF state: WINDY
Wind: 23mph Gusts, 19mph 5min avg
Primary useism: 0.08 μm/s
Secondary useism: 0.17 μm/s
High winds with lightning! Lots of storm activity...have seen gusts over 30mph.
QUICK SUMMARY:
Expected to see H1 down since as I was getting ready at home a big wind storm was raging in town. On the drive out, I saw frequent lightning strikes north of LHO, but as I walked in all looked fine!
But as Cheryl and I were chatting the winds picked up from 10mph to 30. At around midnight, ASC Pit Control signals, IMC-F on tidal, and many LSC control signals all became noisier. Range also finally started to drop a little after midnight (7:00). On DARM blrms, the noise picked up in frequency bands between 20-100Hz.
Possible Fire? Scanning video we saw some "new light" out in the desert. Basically directly east of the Vit plant we could see two distinct light sources which looked like possible fires (they were where there lightning strikes). Did not see any notes on the hanford.gov site or on their app though. And 15min later we do not see the fire spots...it is also raining a little, too. Will keep an eye out for fires.
Will reboot video4 since it looks spotty.

SHIFT SUMMARY: locked all shift
LOG: one EQ from Canada, 4.5M, only a smal effect on H1 range
H1 is still locked, winds just picked up, but still under 10mph, a 4.5M EQ from Canada rolled through and produced a small dip in range.

I've produced new filters for the GDS calibration pipeline using the new calibration model Jeff produced in LHO aLOG 51784. The filters can be found in the calibration SVN here:
aligocalibration/trunk/Runs/O3/GDSFilters/H1GDS_1252081818.npz
The corresponding configuration file is here:
aligocalibration/trunk/Runs/O3/GDSFilters/H1GDS_1252081818.ini
The filters were produced in SVN revision 8394 using this script:
aligocalibration/trunk/Runs/O3/H1/Scripts/TDfilters/H1_run_td_filters_1252081818.sh
Attached are Bode plots of the filters (first 2 plots), showing the expected good agreement with the frequency-domain model. The third plot is an ASD comparing the regular strain to the cleaned strain, showing that the cleaning works as usual and that the high-pass filtering looks good. Lastly, several plots are attached showing comparisons of the frequency-domain models to the filters' effect on real data. The data was taken from around noon UTC today. Note that the response function shows a large discrepancy. This is expected, and it is due to the fact that the new model has not yet been implemented in the front end. If we make this plot again after Monday, it should show much better agreement.

This analysis is similar to that done in LHO aLOG 51654. I've used the broadband injection from Wednesday (2019-09-04): see LHO aLOG 51738. The attached plot of DeltaL(f) / Pcal(f) during the injection includes 4 versions of calibration I made offline using the DCS pipeline:
Also included is the C00 data produced online using the GDS pipeline. As expected, it agrees most closely with version 1 above.
This plot, as well as text files with the data, are available in the calibration SVN here:
