LVEA Sweep - Post Maintenance

THe LVEA was swept in accordance with LIGO-T1500386v7. There was the usual whirring of fans in the vacuum rack,  from a bench-type power supply on the floor at TCSX table and rather noticeably through the wall from the CER/High Bay area. I noticed some condensation dripping from CP1 and forming a little puddle on the floor.

Power Cart/Transformer by HAM4 Turned Off

The power cart/transformer next to HAM4 was powered down around 11:50 am. Panel VEAC-02 circuits 13,15, and 17 were turned off. The only extension cord connected to the power cart was connected to the Hartmann Table (TCSHT4R) for fans and lights, which are currently not being used.

More Rubbing Measurements; Only Singles Left
J. Kissel

Took more standard top-to-top transfer functions today in order to rule out any rubbing from the July 6th EQ. I've closed out the doubles and triples by getting high-res data of the TMTS and IMC HSTS (I got the OMCS last Tuesday). Below are the listed data files. More detailed plots and analysis to come.

This leaves only the single suspensions (IMs, RMs, OMs), and these should be pretty quick since there are only 3 DOFs per SUS instead of 6.

The data lives and is committed here:

TMSX and TMSY look clear of rubbing as well.

The TMTS are tougher to clear of rubbing, because they're each their own unique snowflake:
we've never had good agreement with measurement and model, and we know they don't look like each other since they're really two different suspension types (the first article and the production version, plus left and right handed)...

BUT both suspension measurements look to have resonances as they always have.

I'm not sure what's going on the with the DC scale factor changing over the years, but its an indication of electronics / measurement calibration wonkiness, not anything mechanical / rubbing. Some might be explained away by OSEMs LED failing, because we gave these guys the bottom of the barrel OSEMs.

Effect of injecting additional lines on kappa calculations
[Sudarshan Karki, Aaron Viets]

Sudarshan asked me how close to the 331.9 Hz line it is safe to inject another line using the X end photon calibrator without affecting the kappa_c and f_cc calculations. The short answer is very close, as long as the line injected is a very pure sinusoid.

I ran a test on about an hour of LHO data starting GPS second 1181534652, in which I added a 332.0 Hz sinusoid to DARM_ERR of similar amplitude to the 331.9 Hz line (see spectrum plot). I then collected data for kappa_c and f_cc from both C01 and the test I ran to compare. They were essentially identical:

                             mean(kappa_c) std(kappa_c) mean(f_cc) std(f_cc)

C01 1.0305 0.0030 342.7737 1.6903

DCS_TEST 1.0305 0.0030 342.7737 1.6903

Not convinced I did this correctly, I did a simpler test of demodulating a 332.0 Hz sinusoid at 331.9 Hz and applying the same smoothing that is done in the gstlal calibration pipeline. The sinusoid was attenuated by a factor of 1e-17, consistent with the above results.

PSL Weekly FAMIS Tasks (FAMIS 3661 & 8433)

This morning I completed the weekly PSL FAMIS tasks.

HPO Pump Diode Current Adjust (FAMIS 8433)

With the ISS OFF, I adjusted the pump diode currents for the HPO.  All currents were raised by 0.2 A, changes are summarized in the table below.  I have also attached a screenshot of the PSL Beckhoff main screen for future reference.

  Operating Current (A)
Old New
DB1 49.1 49.3
DB2 52.1 52.3
DB3 52.1 52.3
DB4 52.1 52.3

I did not adjust the DB operating temps.  The ISS is now back ON, and the HPO is outputting ~154.9 W.  This completes FAMIS 8433.

PSL Power Watchdog Reset (FAMIS 3661)

I reset both PSL power watchdogs at 16:51 UTC (9:51 PDT).  This completes FAMIS 3661.

Charge Measurement Update: ETMY Effective Bias Voltage Remains High
J. Kissel

Today's measurement reminds us that we always need several weeks of data to really make a statement about trends when it comes to effective bias voltage. See attached data.

ETMX is still OK.

Today's data from ETMY shows that the effective bias voltage trend we thought we say last week (back towards zero) has been washed away. We see that the effective bias voltage remains as high as ~90-100 [V] in several quadrants.

We're still less that 10% actuation strength change in longitudinal however, even after the reaction chain move that decreased the actuation strength further by a few percent (see LHO aLOG 37854).

I still wouldn't raise the red flags just yet, but I'm glad that the vacuum team is "spinning up" the test mass discharge system.

power meter circuit flow rate
I happened to open up the laser's Beckhoff screen this morning and noticed that the flow rate in the power meter circuit
was fluctuating between 1.2 lpm and 0.5 lpm. Apparently it's been doing this for a good fraction of the past week. For
the time being I've set the trip point to be 0.35 lpm - down from 0.4 lpm.

Not certain what the problem is right now. Possibly a partial blockage in an Ophir power meter similar to the
problem experienced over a year ago.

OSEM Changes: before to after Montana EQ - comparing ETMs and ITMs

Attached is a comparrison of how the OSEMs for ETMX, ETMY, ITMX, and ITMY changed from before the Montana EQ to after.

The OSEM sets (for example, pitch, all stages) are color coded:

Just looking at color, ETMX and ITMY are all yellow or red (more likely to have had issues as a result of the EQ?), and only ETMY and ITMX are green and yellow.
