TITLE: 11/08 Owl Shift: 08:00-16:00 UTC (00:00-08:00 PST), all times posted in UTC
STATE of H1: Observing at 111Mpc
INCOMING OPERATOR: Ed
SHIFT SUMMARY:
A couple of earthquakes caused some action in the middle of this freezing fog shift. Have a couple of Hand-Off Notes for other shifts:
1) Restarting Cal Lines: Whenever H1 loses lock, please email Aaron V. and Maddie Wade so they can restart them.
2) Squeezer Tests: Not sure there's still a call for it, but it was mentioned to try some tests to address H1 range when it drops to 110Mpc or below (see Sheila's alog here).
LOG:
- 9:48 Incoming EQ (Samoa) alerts
- 9:54 begin seeing jump in BLRMS
- 10:03 begin seeing on tidal, ASC, & CPS signals...and then they drop
- 10:17 tidal, ASC, & CPS jump again a bit bigger, and also see on LSC signals.
- 10:17-10:19 transition to EARTHQUAKE
- 10:49-10:50 transition back to WINDY
- 10:30 PSL Chiller topped off (Corey)
- 10:52 Incoming EQ (Tonga) alerts
- 11:06 CPS jumps up to large value, well before the R-wave arrival time.
- 11:07 EARTHQUAKE Lockloss (I should have been quicker to jump on transitioning to EARTHQUAKE)
- LOCK#1 11:06 - 11:39 (SEI CONF left in WINDY)
- Green arms: Y-arm not locking.
- After 5-min Ops Wait: ETMy Pit moved -1.1 clicks immediately locks up.
- FIND IR: Moving Diff Offset VERY slowly (and sticking around ~+30.0) & not finding anything for Y-arm.
- 11:25-11:27 I begin moving Diff Offset to complete CHECK IR.
- DRMI Locking: Guardian used PRMI state to touch up alignment
- Lockloss at TURN ON BS STAGE2
LOCK#2 11:40-12:21
- DRMI Locking:
- 11:48 OM2 WD trip! (& cleared)
- 11:50 OM1 WD trip! (& cleared)
- Seeing large inputs to these optics from ISC (& also they are railed with big values as seen on SatMon.adl & on each OM1 & OM2 medm). Cleared History to clear saturations, but this did not work. Once Verbal started complaining about "OMC", a few minutes later, Clearing History finally worked for both OM1 & OM2. Not sure of the distinction of why it all of a sudden worked.
- 12:21 Back To Observing!
- There is a turck on-site to deliver some large equipment for the Wind Fence. They are parked at the gate, but Jeff J will be escorting them (possibly to an end station). Since this high priority work, we will allow this during Observing & be sure to note the times if they go down the arms and unload.
