CURRENT ENVIRONMENT:
SEI_ENV state: CALM

QUICK SUMMARY: Taking over from Camilla. H1 has been locked and observing for 1.5 hours. We've had a discussion about violin modes (see her recent alogs for details), so I'll continue to monitor these.

SHIFT SUMMARY:
LOG: In NLN for 1h30.
Currently Observing and with violins slowly damping, slowest to damp is EX08. EX19 is high and not damping on it's own. The spreadsheet says this is a new mode, Ryan and I just started damping it and will watch closely 68650.
Both locks I tried to speed the violin damping slightly by requesting the nominal damping settings if the guardian had used lower settings and the _OUTMON channel was low (stay under 200 with nominal settings). Does the VIOLIN-DAMPING guardian re-check and turn them up again after the mode has dropped? It looks like it doesn't. Tagging SUS.
Every lockloss after Tuesday maintenance last week has run up the violins.
Even though before this last lockloss the fundamental mode was very low (but harmonics were still elevated) the IFO has relocked with very high violins. Attached is the violins screen and DARM at the LOWNOISE ISC_STATES before we get to NLN.
They look much better now (after few hours of damping) - see screenshot attached (red trace is the current value, blue and green is old data). Not sure what is causing them to ring up after every lockloss. I will keep tracking them, especially after lockloss and new lock acquisition.
I just had a thought, although I'm not sure how much credibility it has. Our higher order violin modes have also been quite high the last week or so. I wonder if we had one as-yet-undetermined something that kicked up all the modes, and then now between locks there's energy transfer from those higher order modes (that we don't damp in lock, so they haven't really been getting smaller) to the fundamental modes. Then each lock we damp the fundamentals (and some of the 1kHz modes), but then the next lockloss puts a little more energy into the modes, and again there's energy transfer between the modes. Would we help this situation if we damped more of the higher order modes? Even if it doesn't directly help, getting those modes damped is probably a good idea (although generally a low priority, since they usually aren't a problem and we have many higher priority items).
Lockloss after 4h13 in NLN. 1372564555.
Unknown cause. The fundamental violins had reduced but the harmonics were still large.
NLN and Observing at 05:28UTC. ISC_LOCK waited 34 minutes in OMC_WHITENING for the violins to damp.
STATE of H1: Observing at 143Mpc. Been in NLN 3h20 minutes.
Not sure why our range isn't higher, SQZ is fine but violins are still elevated and there has been a little 10-20mph wind.
Old DQ shift entry. Forgot to put an alog in. Apologies for the deelay.

Noise subtraction is not tuned to higher power yet. Temperature affecting alignment. Extra erroneous poles in the digital control systems - HAM ISIs. Ring heat changes, CO2 changes.
Tony had a lockloss that the lockloss tool tagged with a DCPD saturation (our 11 most recent NLN locklosses have been too) 1372544545.
Waited ISC_LOCK waited 20 minutes in OMC_WHITENING for lots of violins to damp. The VOILIN_DAMPING guardian had turned down the gain on EY08 as it was rung up but the damping OUTMON reduced quickly <100 so I increased the gain back to it's nominal for faster damping. Lots of voilins are still rung up and slowly damping, see attached.
SQZ_MANAGER had message "SQZ ASC AS24 not on??" so I took SQZ_MANAGER to NO_SQUEEZING, gracefully cleared the A42 history (sitemap > SQZ > SQZ Overview > IFO ASC > ! graceful clear history) and then SQZ_MANAGER to FREQ_DEP_SQZ. This has happened a couple of times recently 70890 but Vicky and Naoki plan to look into this or automate this week. Tagging SQZ.
It seems the OMC_DCPD tag has only been on the last locklosses since the violins have been rung up (2023/06/29 70945, 70943), see attached. The OMC overflows H1:FEC-8_ADC_OVERFLOW_0_{12,13} haven't dropped back down to zero and the lockloss tool just looks for these channels being non-zero before the lockloss.
This 22:22UTC lockloss has an unknown-for-now cause. Nothing in ASC, LSC, no violin saturations or PIs, not the IMC.

VAC, SUS, SEI, CDS, Dust monitors okay.

Lock #2:
Handing off to Tony for the day.
LOG:
No log for this shift.
Since there won't be a maintenance window due to the holiday today, I've disabled the automatic start for both the magnetic injections and in-lock charge measurements so we can continue observing. I did this by taking both the PEM_MAG_INJ and SUS_CHARGE guardian nodes to DOWN.
Both sets of injections/measurements are set to run automatically again at their appropriate times on Tuesday mornings. I did this by requesting INJECTIONS_COMPLETE in both guardian nodes (they correctly stopped in WAITING).
State of H1: Observing at 145Mpc
Relocking was straightforward following the earlier lockloss save for waiting 90 minutes in OMC_WHITENING for violins to damp (seems to be the norm these days). Now back observing for the past 15 minutes.
