Lockloss @ 15:21 UTC - 0:29 into the lock stretch. Multiple earthquakes from Tonga coming through; this was likely the 5.7 magnitude quake that immediately followed a 5.1

STATE of H1: Observing at 132Mpc
SHIFT SUMMARY:
- Lock #1:
- Lock #2:
- Lock #3:
- Leaving H1 to Ryan S. locked, EQ is incoming hopefully we can ride it out
LOG:
No log for this shift.
LOCKLOSS @ 13:28, unknown cause, but this one looked like quite a fast lockloss, possibly indicating some LSC loop oscillations.
H1 has been locked and in observing for just under 3 hours. We had 5.3 EQ from Vanuatu roll through, but thankfully we were able to ride it out and hold lock.
Recently, it has been known that we are more sensitive to ground motion, particularly earthquakes. I have attached a long term trend, around 6 months, the second row being the EQ band, and the bottom row being microseism. It is clear that in the past few months, there has been more average motion in the EQ band (by a crude eye test ~20-30%, looking at the peaks) starting in the spring. As for microseism, it seems motion actually has dropped on average, peaking some time in late February, early March. TJ has also posted a trend of long term wind speeds in MM, which I have attached to this alog as well.
LOCKLOSS @ 13:23, not seeing any evidence of an ASC ringup, some LSC oscillations.
It appears as if the annulus ion pump is back, and there appears to be no human intervention. We'll keep an eye on it. This is the aLOG about the failure.

STATE of H1: Observing at 136Mpc
CURRENT ENVIRONMENT:
SEI_ENV state: CALM
Wind: 13mph Gusts, 9mph 5min avg
Primary useism: 0.02 μm/s
Secondary useism: 0.10 μm/s
QUICK SUMMARY:
- Arrived with H1 observing as of 4:52 UTC
- Had a rough couple days of EQs and high wind, will monitor as the night goes on
- DM/CDS ok
TITLE: 06/17 Eve Shift: 23:00-07:00 UTC (16:00-00:00 PST), all times posted in UTC
STATE of H1: Lock Acquisition
SHIFT SUMMARY:
The Earth continues it's mode of rumbling (contrast this to other weeks where there were days with no EQs!). Two EQs took H1 down (one from OBSERVING, and one while locking). Other than that, no issues to note as far as locking. Ending shift out with a lock which is over 2hrs which seems to be the norm for the last 2hrs, but we'll see how the earth & H1 treat Austin!
LOCK#1: (2308-0007)
LOCK#2: (0008-0148)
LOCK#3: (0352-0452) No intervention.
LOG:
Short observing stretch ended at beginning of the shift, and during the next lock attempt H1 was hit by a Fiji EQ. EQ was preceded by a step up with winds at EY at about 00:00utc/5pm, but they have only peaked over 40mph for a moment. Have been OBSERVING for 75min.
Quick 4.4M EQ from Northern Calif caused an H1 lockloss. Just finished MAX POWER for relocking.

CURRENT ENVIRONMENT:
SEI_ENV state: CALM
Wind: 15mph Gusts, 11mph 5min avg
Primary useism: 0.03 μm/s
Secondary useism: 0.10 μm/s
QUICK SUMMARY:
Walked in to an OBSERVING H1, only to have it lose lock 6-min into my shift--definitely not Ryan's! :)
(no obvious environmental reasons for the lockloss). H1 currently has green X-arm at INCREASE FLASHES.

Handing off to Corey for the evening.

The PEM_MAG_INJ guardian now should automatically power on the Pulizzi AC power control units that power the amplifiers for the injection coils before the injection suite is run. Specifically, the units are turned on at the end of the TAKE_BACKGROUND state after the background duration is finished. The units are then all turned off once the suite finishes and the guardian returns to DOWN. I have purposefully NOT committed these changes to svn until I can run through the injection suite and test this new functionality (i.e. while down for earthquakes or during Tuesday maintenance).
There are still two Pulizzi units that need to be installed: those for the coils in both end station VEAs. Those amps are currently plugged directly into the wall and are therefore on constantly. Once the remaining Pulizzis are installed, I'll add control of them to the guardian.
While waiting to relock for earthquakes to pass the morning of 6/18, I manually ran the magnetic injection suite to test control of the Pulizzi power units, and it was successful. I've now committed the changes of the guardian to svn.
I timed the suite at 20 minutes to complete, so I'm leaving the automated start time at 7:20am local time on Tuesdays to leave room for the in-lock charge measurements at 7:45am.
Lockloss @ 19:19 UTC - 1:46 into lock stretch. 5.7 magnitude quake from Samoa (same region as many quakes the past few days). SEI_ENV did not move to EARTHQUAKE until two minutes after ground motion picked up and the lockloss.
