Doug and Jason worked on monuments.

The Apollo crew worked on modifying the fourth leg of the Test Stand cleanroom.

Gerardo and I looked at cleanrooms and space available for cryo-pump baffle assembly and install. The Test Stand cleanroom is big enough for assembly and there appears to be enough room for the Balancing Jig in the BSC cleanroom on the far side of the tube. We will take the precaution of covering the concrete floor in that area with CPStat (to mitigate particulate generation) since it has no vinyl.

Beamsplitter phase3b spectra with new filters

Phase 3b spectra have been measured on the beamsplitter after Jeff Kissel implemented the new filters.

The attached pdf are showing a comparison between spectra taken in March 26th phase 3a (in blue), and May 17th phase 3b (in green) with the suspension damped (first pdf) and undamped (second one). The ISI was damped.

Data, measurement lists and figures have been commited on the svn

Attached are spectra from the beamsplitter under vacuum (phase 3b) comparing damped and undamped spectra for M1 and M2. Damping looks to be working fine for all dof, except in yaw, where it increases the motion (page 12 of first pdf and page 7 of second pdf). Those spectra have been taken with a gain of -2 in L and P (as it has been used during HIFO-Y) and -1 for the other dofs

Attached is a performance spectra of the beamsplitter, plotted with osem sensor noise. The spectra compares H1 BS in chamber, in air, with no ISI isolation, suspension damped, and L1 BS in vacuum with ISI and suspension damped.

LHO Beam Tube Photos

Robert Schofield is performing vibration measurements on the X1 beam tube at the mid point (1000m).

To facilitate these measurements we asked our contractor to remove ~60 meters of insulation exposing two complete beam tube sections between two bellows.

IOT2L beam profile measurement
(Cheryl, Chris)

In order to set the Gouy phase of the beam on the IMC WFS, we used the NanoScan to check the beam profile after the L3 lens on IOT2L. Compared to a previous beamscan at this location (alog 5131), it looks like we still have essentially the same beam. Both the horizontal axis and the vertical axis were measured -- and they differ slightly about where we should place the WFS. So we will split the difference and place the WFS in between the two indicated positions.

The attached plot shows the measurements, the fits, and the magnitude of the disagreement, which amounts to +/- 10 degrees of Gouy phase. The upper panel plots the 1/e^2 radius, and the lower panel plots the Gouy phase accumulated from each profile's waist. The vertical lines correspond to the ideal WFS positions, as indicated by each measurement. (We want to put the WFS at +/- 1 Rayleigh length from the waist, for a Gouy phase difference of 90 degrees. At the intermediate position, one profile gives 81 degrees difference and the other gives 98.)

Also to note: the beam path wasn't quite level when we started -- so we had to temporarily remove both L2 and L3 lenses, and touch the M6 steering mirror in order to fix it. As a result, the MC REFL PD has to be realigned (we'll take care of this today along with placing and aligning the WFS).

IP1 and IP2 gate valves opened fully this morning
IP1 and IP2 were found to be at course vacuum (~1-15 torr) yesterday after aLIGO removal, years of storage and subsequent re-installation. We had "roughed" them out yesterday, started their HV but had left them only partially open to the vertex volume overnight.

LVEA SEI Test Stand Computer Timing Restored
The timing on h1seitst has been corrected by replacing the IRIG-B card and attaching the IRIG-B signal to the proper connector. There are still IPC errors, these may be model related? The Dolphin network is attached and appears to have initialized correctly.

Switch Maintenance Complete
All switch maintenance tasks described in WP 3907 are now complete. sw-msr-gc, sw-msr-ops, sw-msr-server1, and sw-lvea-aux0 were all rebooted to update to IOS v15.0(2)SE2 and apply the configuration changes required to enable jumbo frames. The trunk configuration for sw-lvea-aux1 was corrected so that this switch could then be added to the VTP domain.

IP1 and IP2 Open Now

(Kyle, John, Gerardo)

IP1 and Ip2 were open to the vacuum system yesterday by 4:00 pm.

An aux cart was used to pump down both ion pumps before their HV was enabled.

No problems to report.

ITMY new damping filters

Spectra on ITMY have been measured after implementing the damping filters recently designed (see aLog 6949)

The attached file shows measurements with the suspension and ISI damped for each level (M0/R0/L1/L2)

As described in the previous aLog for the same measurement on ETMY (see aLog  6432) the effect the filters should provide above 10 Hz is not visible.

Looking at p22 of the attached pdf, an interesting resonance with a high Q appears at 7Hz for roll, vertical and transverse dofs. A new spectra will be taken tomorrow, to confirm its existence.

The data, pdfs, and measurement list in plotallquad_spectra.m have been commited to the svn.

Plotquad_spectra.m and plotallquad_spectra.m have been modified to automatically scale the plots, depending on the boundaries of the data.

ETMY 3b spectra with new filters

Spectra on ETMY have been measured after implementing the damping filters recently designed (see LLO aLog 6949)

The two attached files are showing measurements respectively with the suspension damped and undamped.

For each of them, three spectra have been measured at LHO :

The improvement provided by the new filters is not visible when comparing blue and red in the first pdf since the signal is drowned in noise from 10Hz (eg p19 of […ALL_Spectra_Don.pdf] representing the motion between the structure and M0 in longitudinal). The difference seen between the two curves is certainly due to the input motion that was different for the two measurements, as we can see on the second pdf when comparing blue and red for damping off (eg p22 of […ALL_Spectra_Doff.pdf] representing roll for M0).

Although, the difference between the two states of the ISI is clearly visible on every stages of the suspension, when comparing red and green (eg every page on […ALL_Spectra_Don.pdf]). The motion (in longitudinal) between the main chain and the reaction chain at L2 stage is reduced by a factor of 100 @ 1Hz when the ISI is isolated (eg p36 of […ALL_Spectra_Don.pdf]).

The data, pdfs, and measurement list in plotallquad_spectra.m have been commited to the svn

End station status after fiber cleaning completion.

EY: Vacuum controls signals working. FMCS is connected. The H1 FE-LAN is connected. The Cisco is running which provides HEPI pump controller signals.

There are no other connections at EY, which includes the timing, so no front ends are running correctly.

EX: All Back. Vacuum signals available, not all being trended by EDCU at time of writing. FMCS all back.

We will restore the rest of the EY systems Tuesday morning. Will require restart of front ends and DAQ.

GV1 Annulus Ion Pump Controller Swapped

I replaced the annulus ion pump controller.  The issue with this system was the ion pump controller did not want to turn on the HV, so tried the DB connector with the shorted pins, did not work.  Swapped it and the ion pump turned on.

GV1 annulus system is pumping on its own, cart was removed on 5/16/2013.  Aux cart was moved to BSC01 annulus ion pump system.

The Apollo crew moved the BSC cleanroom over the spool piece: a work permit has been submitted for cleanings. Work continued on the modification of the Test Stand cleanroom. Gerardo and I visited about cryo-pump baffle assembly and install needs. G thinks that the Test Stand cleanroom is big enough to accommodate the tooling/jigs for the CPB assembly. He is contemplating which cleanroom(s) will facilitate install. PCal crew has requested Clean and Bake team help with the wrap-bag-tag of the PCal structure in H2 PSL enclosure.
